Princess Tess

Making a wish
Originally uploaded by CreativeExile.
It's funny, the photos that you think will be your favorites after an event. Tess got a gift certificate for the full-on princess treatment at the mall boutique back when Benjamin was born (thanks, Kandi and Jim!) and I took her out there today to get her all tarted -- I mean, dolled up.

We saw Flushed Away afterward, then went for our usual mall treat -- a Mrs. Field's cookie (for her), three Godiva truffles (for me). I gave her a penny to make a wish at the fountains and she closed her eyes, giving me this secret smile. Turns out all the beauty treatment photos I took can't top this little moment.

Bad knits--bad!

This is not, by far, the worst photo from an old knitting magazine I picked up at a holiday bazzar recently, but it is (in context with my life) the funniest.

So, in honor of (finally!) getting back to knitting last week, I wanted to scan this and put up a caption contest. I have a few (!) in mind myself, but I wanted to see if anyone else could be as bad as me.

Bonus points for guessing the year this mag came out (oops). Sorry, I don't really have any prizes (except for finding out who followed me over to my new site...and that's just a prize for me, I guess).

Family Dinners

Family Dinners

This is the first photo I thought of when I signed up for Tracy White's Fondest Memories album track at CKU. You have to come up with 19 (why 19?) black and white photos or combination of photos to fit a 6"x8" space on each page of your memory album.

There's my handsome Dad on the left. His sister (whose basement this is) is standing in the background behind him.

Many of our holiday dinners (Christmas and Easter) were spent at my Aunt's house. She had six kids and lived in a small bungalow in Wyandotte. We always had to eat at various tables set up in the basement.

I so looked forward to going over there; I was her godchild and with her family of six and our family of four kids, I was the only one of my siblings to get a Christmas gift. Ooo, my sister was always so jealous. As baby of the family she always got special attention, so I was especially happy for the extra notice.

One down, 18 to go...and it will depend on the photos I can muster up.

My old site

Since I'm sending everyone from CKU over here, if you want to know more about me, I've been blogging as Creative Exile (thus my Yahoo name) here at Blogger for a while, but can't blog photos from Flickr to that site anymore. Feel free to check out my old site, since I can't seem to find the time to update this one just yet...soon!!

Okay, here's the photo of Ben that I tried to blog that prompted my move to a new Blogger site...there, isn't that ADORABLE? Too bad about the drool and crossed eye. Still stinkin' cute to me.

Congratulations, and welcome as the newest member of the Creating Keepsakes University student body! You are now officially registered to attend CKU-Detroit, April 19-21, 2007. We can't wait to greet you on campus.

Whether I stay in remains to be seen. But I decided to register for CKU and see what happens. My dad has more tests to go through and their Florida trip has been bumped out to March-April instead of February-March. If all goes well they'll actually be back in town April 15th, which gives me time to get the kids up to them so I have those days clear.

If I have to cancel, I'm only out $50 and bragging rights.

Ice Storm 2007

Okay, now that I've figured out why I can't blog my photos from Flickr over to my old blog, CreativeExile (not that I am at ALL happy about it), I guess I'll settle in here.

I've been running outside for the last two days whenever I've had a chance, to catch pictures of the ice storm that hit the midwest on Monday.

I've been learning a lot about my camera in the process. I've also taken a number of extremely phallic photos--apparently my subconscious is trying to tell me something.

My husband is not at all pleased with the "icy peni$" photos I've shared with him...but he was happy to suggest that he may be a solution to my problem. Or perhaps I'm a solution to his?
